Google Ads conversion tracking connected to qualified leads
Google Ads conversion tracking consulting connects advertising activity to the actions that matter to your business. I help B2B teams define useful conversion goals, review Google tags and GA4 events, and assess how qualified leads and CRM outcomes can be imported into Google Ads.
A form submission is one stage in a longer buying journey. Sales acceptance, opportunity creation and revenue can happen later in Salesforce or another CRM. A useful measurement plan names each stage, identifies its source, and explains how it should influence reporting and bidding.
I work with Bay Area software and technology teams and support remote engagements. The starting point is a review of your current measurement setup, your lead lifecycle and the decisions you need the data to support.
When a tracking engagement makes sense
The dashboard and CRM disagree
Google Ads reports conversions, but the sales team cannot connect them to qualified records. I trace the definitions, attribution windows, identifiers and handoffs behind that discrepancy.
Automated bidding rewards weak leads
A campaign can optimize toward a completed form even when sales rejects the inquiry. I help separate initial engagement from the downstream outcome you want the account to learn from.
Tracking changes are hard to verify
A new form, consent configuration, CRM workflow or site release can change measurement. I document the expected behavior and build a practical verification checklist.
Conversion tracking services and deliverables
Conversion goal design
A documented map of form submissions, qualified leads, opportunities and customer outcomes, including the owner and source of each event.
Google tag and GTM review
A review of tag firing, duplicate events, form-success detection and the boundaries between Google Ads tags and GA4 events.
GA4 event and key-event review
A check of event naming, reporting definitions and the data used in acquisition reports. I distinguish analytics reporting from the conversion actions used by Google Ads.
Enhanced conversions for leads
Assessment and configuration planning for supported first-party data workflows, eligible data collection and matching diagnostics. The implementation depends on your stack and consent setup.
Offline conversion imports
A review of the supported import route, lead identifiers, conversion dates, lifecycle stages, duplicate handling and import diagnostics.
CRM handoff and documentation
A record of field mappings, ownership, validation results and the checks your marketing or operations team should repeat after changes.
How the measurement workflow fits together
| Stage | Source to inspect | Question to answer |
|---|---|---|
| Ad interaction | Google Ads and landing-page context | Can the eligible lead record retain the identifiers needed by the selected measurement method? |
| Initial inquiry | Form success event and CRM lead record | Is a successful inquiry counted once, using a clear definition? |
| Qualified lead | Sales or marketing qualification field | Is the stage consistent enough to use as a conversion signal? |
| Opportunity | CRM opportunity and associated lead/contact | Can the record be connected to its earlier inquiry without creating duplicate conversions? |
| Customer outcome | CRM status, amount and close date | Is the value meaningful and suitable for the reporting or bidding objective? |
This is an example of a measurement design. We confirm the applicable stages and supported integration in your account before implementation. Salesforce imports can be managed through Google Ads Data Manager where the requirements are met.
What I test before handing over the setup
- A genuine successful submission triggers the intended event.
- Failed validation, refreshes and repeated clicks are checked for duplicate counting.
- Primary and secondary goals reflect the agreed reporting and optimization plan.
- Conversion names, identifiers, timestamps and lifecycle fields are mapped consistently.
- Import diagnostics and errors have a named owner and a repeatable review process.
- Your team receives a change log and a checklist for future form or CRM releases.
Google Ads, GA4 and a CRM can legitimately report different numbers because they use different definitions and attribution rules. The aim is to explain the differences and identify genuine errors, then give each system an appropriate role.
Data handling and account access
I request the access needed for the agreed work through the platforms’ permission controls. Please use the inquiry form to describe the problem and your stack. Account passwords and customer exports belong in an agreed secure workflow.
Customer data must follow the receiving platform’s policies and your approved consent requirements. Keep email addresses and other identifying customer fields out of GA4 event parameters. Enhanced conversions uses a separate supported Google Ads workflow for eligible first-party data.
Where a CRM administrator, developer or consent-platform owner must make a change, the implementation plan identifies that dependency before work begins.
How the engagement works
- 1Review
We discuss your stack, current reporting and the lead outcomes you need to measure. - 2Define
I document the event map, access requirements and proposed implementation scope. - 3Implement and test
We configure the agreed changes and check representative journeys and import diagnostics. - 4Hand over
You receive the mapping, verification record and ownership checklist.
Scope, fees and expected timing
The initial conversation identifies the problem and whether I can help. A full audit or implementation is scoped separately, with a written fee, responsibilities and deliverables before the work begins.
Scope depends on the number of domains and forms, the CRM, consent configuration, existing tags, conversion volume and access to technical owners. We agree the review date after those dependencies are understood.
If the immediate problem is campaign efficiency, a Google Ads audit may be the better first step. If you also need channel reporting and dashboards, see marketing analytics consulting.
Conversion tracking questions
Do you work with Salesforce and HubSpot?
I review the CRM workflow and the supported integration options for your specific environment. Salesforce, HubSpot and other platforms have different requirements, so the scope identifies the relevant technical owner and implementation route.
Do I need both GA4 and Google Ads conversion tracking?
The setup depends on your reporting and optimization needs. I review the existing sources and how Google Ads goals are configured so the same business outcome is not unintentionally used twice.
Can enhanced conversions recover every missing conversion?
No measurement method recovers every event. Eligibility, consent, matching, browser behavior and the available identifiers affect what can be measured. Diagnostics and test results should guide expectations.
Will connecting the CRM immediately lower cost per lead?
An integration improves the information available for decisions. Campaign results also depend on the offer, audience, lead quality, budget and conversion volume. I agree a measurement plan before evaluating changes.
Can I keep my existing agency or developer?
Yes. The engagement can provide an audit and implementation specification or support the team responsible for making the changes.
Is this available remotely?
Yes. I am based in Union City and work with teams across the San Francisco Bay Area and remotely.
